DANSIS symposium 2016

The symposium will follow up on our symposium in 2008. The framework of the symposium will create an extraordinary possibility of meeting colleagues from the fluid mechanics society in Denmark. The hope is that the venue will enable the participants to share experiences and acquire new competences.

The theme of the symposium is Fluid mechanics 2020 and beyond. It will cover several topics - in some cases as parallel tracks:

  • New developments in applications of CFD: Cloud computing, integration in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), virtual prototyping, automation of CFD.
  • Use of OpenFOAM (and other open source solvers): experiences from usage in Denmark
  • Workshops: How do you solve typical fluid mechanical problems in real life?

You will select between different workshops. At each workshop a specfic practical problem will be presented and the solution will be discussed in smaller groups. This will be a way to possibly learn new solution techniques and get inspiration for solution strategies.

Workshop tracks
 
In the workshops, you will follow one of the following tracks (each with two cases):
1. Hydrodynamics and free surfaces
  - "CFD simulation of full scale self-propulsion of ships" by OSK-Shiptech
  - "Motion response of floating offshore structures" by DHI
2. Aerodynamics
  - "Aerodynamics and noise" by Suzlon
  - Case by DTU Wind energy
3. Multiphase and internal flows
  - "Multiphase flows and flows with particles" by GEA Niro
  - "Multiphase internal flow" by Kamstrup
4. Thermodynamics
  - "Flow modelling for Building environment" by Rambøll
  - "Combustion and condensation in diesel engines" by DTU Mechanical Engineering
5. "OpenFOAM - bring your own case"
  - Cases brought by all participants - work on implementation
  - NOTE that you must have experience with OpenFOAM to participate in this track

We will write to the participants two weeks before the symposium and ask you to select workshop topics.
 

 

The symposium fee is DKK 2400 for members of DANSIS covers accommodation and meals. The fee will be settled directly with the hotel (or by invoice if you do not show up). If you or your company are not a member, an addtional fee of DKK 1000,- will be charged. Please register as soon as possible. We need to adjust our reservation at the hotel on August 31 and will only have a limited number of free rooms after that date. You will be able to cancel your registration before August 31.
